Message from Denjong Chogyal

To all Trustees and Well-Wishers
In our Buddhist tradition, all members of the monkbody wear the sacred robes of the Buddha, and therefore they should be shown every respect and spoken to politely at all times.
In case of any perceived misconduct on the part of any monks, all trustees and well wishers are requested to report such incidents to the Chief Trustee or any tulku, khenpo, or lobon appointed by him, and not reprimand or take any direct action themselves.

During the period 1700 to 1800 approximately, Denjong suffered incessant foreign invasions. In the general mobilization the whole population, including all monks were conscripted for war and hence this lead to the destruction of the whole monastic system.
In the following two hundred years, without any learned Lamas, academic studies, spiritual practice and vows could not be reinstituted. Hence, in the absence of proper guidance and development, successive generations of monks abandoned their monasteries to marry and virtually live as laymen.
In recent years, many monastic schools have been instituted, but as there are no resident senior monks to organise provision of accommodation and food, and supervise the younger monks, most students have been deserting their monasteries.
Buddhism must be revived and allowed to flourish so that Beyul Denjong can be the catalyst for infinitely benefitting buddhism in general and the Secret Mantrayana tradition in particular, as well all sentient beings as intended by the Omnipotent Guru Rinpoche. In order for this precious goal to be realised, I appeal to all married and unmarried monks, as well as all patrons, to initiate discussions to achieve an amicable handing over of all authority within the monasteries from the married and absentee monks to the best educated and capable of unmarried monks who wish to pursue the noble path taught by the Buddha in accordance with established monastic customs and traditions.
If we do not accomplish these critical changes in the running of our monasteries, the extinction of buddhism in Denjong is a looming certainty and along with that, our language and all our other customs and traditions, and even Guru Rinpoche’s blessings.
The monastic institution was founded by the buddha, and accordingly monasteries of all sects of buddhism in the himalayan region require their monks and nuns to take their vows. Those monks who wish to marry are required to formally resign and leave the monastery beforehand. Married monks of the Nyingma sect who have completed their standard three-year meditation are known as Ngakpa but they too must live apart from the monastery. Monks who have not completed any three year meditation and who marry, are no longer considered monks but laymen.
If buddhism is revived in Beyul Denjong, surely the blessings of Kunchosum will be realised in the form of peace, harmony and prosperity, and everyone shown an unique option of pursuing life in a far more enriched and meaningful manner to the benefit of oneself and all others.

དེ་རྗེས་ལོ་བརྒྱ་ཕྲག་གཉིས་ཙམ་གྱི་རིང་འབྲས་ལྗོངས་ཀྱི་དགོན་སྡེ་ཁག་གི་ནང་ཚད་ལྡན་གྱི་དགེ་བའི་བཤེས་གཉེན་མེད་པ་དང་ཆོས་བྱེད་དགེ་འདུན་པ་མང་པོ་ཞིག་ཀྱང་རབ་བྱུང་གི་སྡོམ་པ་ཤོར་བའམ་སྡོམ་པ་སྤྲོད་ལེན་མི་ཐུབ་པར་བར་ཆད་བྱུང་ཡོད་པ་རེད།
ཉེ་བའི་ལོ་ཤས་ཀྱི་ནང་འབྲས་ལྗོངས་ཀྱི་དགོན་ཁག་གི་ནང་སློབ་གྲ་མང་པོ་ཞིག་ཆེད་འཛུགས་བྱས་ཡོད་ཀྱང་དགོན་པ་རང་དུ་གཏན་སྡོད་བྱེད་མཁན་གྱི་དགེ་འདུན་པ་བསླབ་པ་རྒན་པ་མེད་པ་སོགས་དགོན་པའི་ནང་དགེ་འདུན་པ་ཚོར་གནས་མལ་གསོལ་ཆས་སོགས་ཀྱི་མཐུན་རྐྱེན་བསྐྲུན་མི་ཐུབ་པར་བརྟེན་ལོ་ཆུང་དགེ་འདུན་པ་མང་པོ་དགོན་པ་ནས་ཐོན་འགྲོ་དགོས་པའི་གནས་སྟངས་ཤིག་ཏུ་གྱུར་ཡོད།
སྤྱིར་སྦས་ཡུལ་འབྲས་མོ་ལྗོངས་ཀྱི་ནང་སངས་རྒྱས་བསྟན་པ་དང་དེའི་ནང་ཚན་ནས་གསང་སྔགས་ཀྱི་བསྟན་པ་དར་སྤེལ་སླར་གསོ་དགོས་པ་དེའང་གུ་རུ་རིན་པོ་ཆེའི་ལུངས་བསྟན་བཞིན་ཡུལ་འདིར་ཆོས་ཀྱི་རྩ་བ་དར་སྤེལ་སླར་གསོ་ཡག་པོ་ཞིག་ཚུགས་ཐུབ་ན་དེས་འགྲོ་བ་སེམས་ཅན་ཡོངས་ལ་ཕན་པའི་དགེ་མཚན་ཡོད།
དེར་བརྟེན་འབྲས་ལྗོངས་ནང་བར་ལམ་རབ་བྱུང་གི་སྡོམ་པ་གནང་མཁན་དང་ལེན་མཁན་ཡང་མེད་པ་དང་སྡོམ་པ་ཡོད་མེད་ཀྱི་སྐྱ་སེར་དགེ་འདུན་པ་རྣམས་དང་དགོན་པའི་སྦྱིན་བདག་སོགས་ཚང་མས་མཛའ་གཤིས་ཀྱི་སྒོ་ནས་བཀའ་བསྡུར་གྲོས་མོལ་བྱས་པ་རྒྱུད་དགོན་པའི་ནང་རབ་བྱུང་གི་སྡོམ་པ་གཙང་མ་ཡོད་པའི་དགེ་འདུན་པ་ཚོས་དགོན་པའི་འཛིན་སྐྱོངས་ཐུགས་འགན་བཞེས་ཏེ་འབྲས་ལྗོངས་ཀྱི་དགོན་པ་ཁག་གི་བསྟན་པའི་སྲོལ་རྒྱུན་ཡང་དག་པའི་སྒོ་ནས་ཉམས་ལེན་གནང་རྒྱུ་དེ་ཚང་མར་ཕན་ཐོག་ཡོད་པའི་དམིགས་ཡུལ་གཙོ་བོ་དེ་ཡིན།
སངས་རྒྱས་ཀྱིས་ཐོག་མར་དགེ་འདུན་གྱི་སྲོལ་གཏོད་གནང་བར་གཞི་བཟུངས་བྱས་པ་ཡིན་ན། ང་ཚོའི་ད་ལྟའི་ཧེ་མ་ལ་ཡའི་རི་རྒྱུད་ཀྱི་རིས་མེད་ཀྱི་ནང་ཆོས་བྱེད་མཁན་དགེ་འདུན་པ་དང་བཙུན་མ་ཚོས་ཆོས་ཀྱི་སྡོམ་པ་ངེས་པར་དུ་བཞེས་དགོས་ཀྱི་ཡོད་པ་རེད།
གལ་ཏེ་དགེ་བཙུན་སུ་ཞིག་གིས་ཆང་ས་རྒྱབ་ནས་ཁྱིམ་པ་བྱེད་འདོད་ཡོད་ན། དགོན་པའི་སྒྲིག་སྲོལ་ལྟར་སྡོམ་པ་ཡར་ཕུལ་ནས་དགོན་པ་ནས་ཐོན་དགོས་པ་ཡིན། དཔེར་ན་སྙིང་མའི་ཆོས་ལུགས་ཀྱི་ནང་ཆང་ས་རྒྱབ་པའི་དགེ་འདུན་པ་དེ་འདྲ་ཡོད་པ་དེ་ཚོ་ལོ་གསུམ་མཚམས་ལ་གནས་རྗེས་ཀྱི་སྔགས་པའི་རིགས་ཤིག་ཡོད་པ་དེ་ཚོའང་དགོན་པ་ནས་ཐོན་དགོས་པ་ཡིན།
གལ་ཏེ་ལོ་གསུམ་མཚམས་སུ་མ་བསྡད་པ་དང་ཆང་ས་རྒྱབ་ན་དགེ་འདུན་པ་མ་ཡིན་མི་སྐྱ་ཡིན་པ་ཤེས་དགོས་སོ།
གལ་ཏེ་སྦས་ཡུལ་འབྲས་མོ་གཤོངས་འདིའི་ནང་སངས་རྒྱས་ཀྱི་བསྟན་པ་སླར་གསོ་དར་སྤེལ་ཐུབ་ཚེ་ཡུལ་འདིར་བདེ་སྐྱིད་དང་མཛའ་མཐུན་དར་རྒྱས་ཕུན་སུམ་ཚོགས་པ་ཡོང་རྒྱུར་དཀོན་མཆོག་གསུམ་གྱིས་མཁྱེན་ནས་བྱིན་གྱིས་བརླབ་པ་གདོན་མི་ཟ་བ་ཡིན།
དེ་ལྟ་བུའི་འགྱུར་བཅོས་སླར་གསོ་ཞིག་མ་བྱས་ཚེ་འབྲས་ལྗོངས་ཀྱི་བསྟན་པ་ཡར་རྒྱས་འགྲོ་དཀའ་བ་དང་ཆོས་རྒྱུན་ཉམས་ཆག་ཏུ་འགྲོ་རྒྱུའི་ཉེན་ཁར་སླེབས་འདུག།
དེ་ལྟར་ཡིན་དུས་འབྲས་ལྗོངས་སྐྱ་སེར་མི་མང་རང་གཞན་ཚང་མས་མི་ཚེ་དོན་དང་ལྡན་པ་ཚང་མར་ཕན་ཐོག་ཡོད་པ་ཞིག་བྱ་དགོས་པའི་སྐུལ་མ་ཞུ་རྒྱུའི་སྨོན་འདུན་བཅས།།
